How many ski lessons do I need?
We highly recommend booking at least 4 lessons for everybody of any ability. This gives you enough time with the instructor to really focus on specific aspects of technique and improve your all-around skiing/snowboarding to build confidence in new terrain and have more fun on the mountain. Even highly advanced skiers and riders notice huge changes after 4 lessons with a professional instructor. Skiing and snowboarding are sports which you can never stop improving at, and the better you get, the more fun you have!
How far in advance do i need to book?
As soon as possible! We highly recommend booking your ski or snowboard instructor as soon as you confirm the dates of your ski trip to Georgia. We are often fully booked over a month in advance for the February midterm holidays.
I want morning lessons but they are sold out, what do I do?
There are a lot of benefits to snowboarding or skiing in Gudauri in the afternoon! The slopes are less crowded, the sun has warmed the snow to make it softer and easier to ski/snowboard on, everybody enjoys skiing more at the warmest time of day when your fingers don’t freeze, and we tend to have more availability for lessons in afternoons.
PARAGLIDING
When is the best time to fly?
You can fly practically at any time of the day or year. In the morning the air is calmer and there are no turbulences disturbing the flight. In the afternoon – especially in summer – it can become a bit more thermally active, but this often allows us to ascend. If this becomes too uncomfortable for a passenger, one can easily leave this upwind and steer in the opposite direction to the landing site. Even in winter you can fly super tandem. The air here is usually very calm.
Do I have to be athletic to fly?
A certain level of sporting fitness is of course an advantage, but not absolutely necessary. You still have to be able to walk. Often we have to walk 5-15 minutes to the actual starting place. Diseases such as high blood pressure, circulatory disorders, heart complaints, etc. must be reported when ordering.
How light/heavy may I be minimum/maximum?
The minimum weight is 25 kg, the maximum weight 110 kg. Please let us know if you want to enroll your child for a flight so that we can prepare the appropriate equipment.
Which weather is suitable to fly?
We fly all year round (even in winter), but only in conditions that allow safe flight. The sun does not have to shine necessarily and also with cloudy sky one flies. The wind must not be too strong and must come from the right direction. Our tandem pilots know when to fly and when not. However, weather conditions can lead to changes in dates or flight locations and, if necessary, to cancellations at short notice.
How old do I have to be to fly?
There are currently no age restrictions to fly as a passenger. In the case of minors, a declaration of consent (in writing) from both parents is required.
Can I trust your tandem pilots and fly with a clear conscience?
Our tandem pilots have a lot of experience in both solo and tandem flying. We fly very often and under different flight conditions. In addition, we all come from our flight area and know the conditions of the Bernese Oberland. Safety is our top priority, we do not compromise and therefore sometimes make unpopular decisions, i.e. we also cancel flights when safety is in question.
What do I have to do at the start?
Your tandem pilot will give you a detailed briefing before the start and do a test run. It is very important when starting that you do not sit down as a passenger, but run along until the pilot says that you can now take a seat in the harness.
